Created in 2019 by Ning Li, Typology quickly established itself in the world of cosmetics thanks to its clear mission: to demystify skincare and offer minimalist, effective products that respect the skin and the environment. In just three years, the brand has become a benchmark, winning over thousands of consumers with its unique approach and transparent formulations.
Typology relies on strong values that place it at the heart of clean beauty trends:
💡 Their visual universe evokes a modern apothecary, with streamlined packaging and a vintage aesthetic that reinforce their image of expertise and authenticity.
Before buying, I realized their online skin diagnostic test. Fast and fun, it gave me a better understanding of my skin's needs. Result: according to Typology, my skin has a incipient skin aging with balanced sebum production and oxidation factors to monitor.
Based on this diagnosis, the brand prescribed a suitable routine. Although I didn't follow their recommendations to the letter, I did choose around ten products to test, attracted by the simplicity and clarity of their approach.
Typology systematically excludes controversial ingredients, such as :
The brand favors natural or organic ingredients, with formulations containing between 80 and 99 % of ingredients of natural origin. Selected active ingredients, such as azelaic acid and retinol, are scientifically tested and extracted using gentle methods to preserve their effectiveness.
Typology is a brand with a strong commitment, meeting the expectations of customers seeking transparency, efficiency and respect for the environment. If you're looking for simple, high-performance skincare products made with natural ingredients and a genuine concern for quality, Typology is an excellent choice.
💡 Overall score: 9/10
This serum is a concentrate of anti-oxidant active ingredients to restore radiance to dull complexions. The serum contains a water-soluble vitamin C derivative, sodium ascorbyl phosphate. This vitamin C derivative is highly stable, easier to formulate than pure vitamin C and less irritating. For people who can't tolerate pure vitamin C, this is a good option. This serum also contains extracts of silk-tree bark with anti-oxidant properties and evodia Rutaecarpa Fruit Extrac with anti-inflammatory properties.

This serum brightens the face and its texture is very pleasant.
Minus
Vitamin C derivatives need to be transformed into pure vitamin C to be active, so they are less effective than pure vitamin C.
This product contains high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to help moisturize your skin and panthenol, which is both a humectant like hyaluronic acid, i.e. it attracts water, and an emollient to prevent water from evaporating. To reinforce the moisturizing power of this serum, Typology has added 3 sugars, which are also excellent humectants. Of course, you should apply a moisturizer or sun cream as soon as possible after using this serum.

The combination of 3% hyaluronic acid and 2% provitamin B5 "panthenol" is really perfect for a moisturizing serum.
Minus
In use, it absorbs very quickly, which may be disconcerting for a moisturizing serum, perhaps because of the Benzyl Alcohol, but nonetheless it makes it possible to complete a routine quickly when you're in a hurry.
As for the caffeine 5% and niacinamide 2% eye contour serum, I have to say I wasn't disappointed. Caffeine for the eye contour is a classic that improves blood circulation, but as I mentioned in the video on puffiness, according to one study, it's only really effective on 23% people. Niacinamide reduces dark circles and improves blood circulation. To these two main active ingredients, they've added silk tree bark extract for its numerous anti-oxidant effects. My advice is to keep this product cold, as this will greatly enhance its effectiveness for lymphatic drainage. Like the previous product, this is a well-formulated serum at a reasonable price.

A well-formulated serum, effective on dark circles, non-irritating and reasonably priced.

The 9-ingredient moisturizing face cream is very well formulated from my point of view, with humectants like glycerin, pentylene glycol from sugar cane and hyaluronic acid and coconut oil to nourish the skin. Coconut oil is second in the formula, a rather thick oil with excellent nourishing properties superior to mineral oils. An ideal cream for normal to combination skin.

As is often the case with Typology, we're working with a simple but well-crafted formulation. I particularly recommend this cream if you have sensitive skin.
Minus
If you have very dry skin, it will lack nourishing ingredients, and if you have very oily skin, it will be too rich.
The Purifying Face Cream with 4% Zinc PCA and Bamboo Extract contains several nice emollients, lots of zinc, bamboo extracts and silica for mattifying, but it's sorely lacking in humectants, we've got glycerine and that's about it. And I'd like to point out that this cream contains an essential oil. An ideal cream if you have oily skin, but don't forget to use a moisturizing lotion and serum beforehand.

A cream that does a lot of good for oily skin.
Minus
They lack humectants.
Wrinkles and fine lines serum with 0.3% retinol is an oily serum containing just 5 ingredients. With castor oil and soybean oil, the oils are quite fine and not very comedogenic, so I apply it before my moisturizer in the evening. I think the product itself is fine, but I'm disappointed that it doesn't come in a different concentration, as I think it's intended for mature skin and that people with mature skin will soon want to switch to higher concentrations of retinol.

A very good oil serum to start with retinol
Minus
I find the product itself to be very well but I'm disappointed that there isn't a different concentration because I think this product is intended for mature skin and that people with mature skin will soon want to switch to higher concentrations of retinol.
The cleansing gel with 5% PHA and aloe vera is a good cleansing and exfoliating gel that I find well formulated. The first ingredient is water, followed by cocoglucoside, a very gentle non-ionic surfactant, which is also found in Bioderma's cleansing gel. Then there's gluconolactone, a PHA (polyhydroxy acid), a mild exfoliating acid that's also a moisturizer. Then we have coco betaine, an active tension derived from coconut, which has foaming properties, glycerine to moisturize, xanthum gum to improve texture, sodium hydroxide to make the cleanser less acidic, aloe vera, a sweet orange essential oil, inulin to care for the microbiome, Sodium Chloride as a thickener, Benzyl Alcohol as a preservative, Citric Acid and Sodium Citrate to acidify the PH, Dehydroacetic Acid as a preservative, various sugars for hydration and limonene.

The brand Typology does not offer promo codes
Typology made a real commitment when it created this brand 3 years ago, riding the wave of Clean Beauty without compromising on effectiveness, because they use effective active ingredients whose origin is known.
Even if they were inspired by the Ordinary by naming some of their products with the active ingredient(s) and their concentration, they have adopted an even more minimalist formulation. Minimalism is a good thing, but sometimes I prefer more complete and complex formulations so I don't need to multiply the steps in a skincare routine.
Nevertheless, I think they were right to make strong choices, because when you want to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one. I'll definitely be recommending some of their products and testing others in the future. Typology is a good brand. It respects its commitments to quality and environmental protection. It guides consumers, raises awareness and offers quality products that effectively target the skin's specific needs.
