Description

A minimalist formula with just eight ingredients, delivering 0.2 % retinol to your skin via jojoba oil and squalane. This oily serum gently fights the signs of time and acne while providing hydration and nutrition. A water-free, silicone-free, alcohol-free, gluten-free, vegan formula created for retinoid beginners. With this concentration, your skin will gradually become accustomed to this anti-aging molecule, while improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as photo-aging-related skin damage.
This retinol serum helps reduce wrinkles, skin pigmentation and acne, while limiting irritation thanks to its low retinol concentration. If you'd like to use a product from The Ordinary containing retinoids without the irritation, you can also try the 2% retinol granactive with squalane.

Ingredients:

Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Retinol, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Bht.

How do I use Retinol 0.2 % in squalane?

With retinol, the golden rule for tolerating it is to start gradually. That's why I recommend you start with this serum. Its fairly low concentration of vitamin A will help your skin to develop a good tolerance.

Apply a few drops to a cleansed, well-dried face in the evening, after watery, lighter textures.

Even if retinol 0.2 % is only used in the evening, you should automatically apply sun protection in the morning. Retinoids are photosensitizing.

The Ordinary recommends keeping your product refrigerated.

General precautions for use with all new cosmetic products.

Do not use on damaged or lesioned skin. It is always advisable to test a small amount on a part of your face the first time you use it. Retinol can cause severe redness and irritation. If your skin does not react after 24 hours, make this product part of your beauty routine. In the event of severe skin reactivity, discontinue use of retinol 0.2 %. In this case, consult your doctor or dermatologist.

With which products should Retinol 0.2 % in squalane not be mixed?

During your retinol tolerance period, you should not use exfoliants (such as fruit acids or glycolic acid) or vitamin C, especially if your skin is sensitive. After this adaptation period, you can incorporate an L-ascorbic acid skin care product.

However, vitamin C should not be applied at the same time as retinol, as the pH of these two active ingredients reduces their effectiveness. You can therefore use L-ascorbic acid in the morning and retinol in the evening. You can also wait 30 minutes after using vitamin C before applying your vitamin A derivative.
