What exactly is Triasorb?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Triasorb (INCI name: Phenylene Bis-Diphenyltriazine<\/em>) is a patented organic sunscreen filter<\/strong>, developed by the Pierre Fabre Group after more than twenty years of research. It is manufactured in France, at the Gaillac plant, and was launched as part of the Intense Protect 50+ line by the Eau Thermale Av\u00e8ne brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes it unique: it is presented as the the first organic filter to block the entire harmful portion of the solar spectrum<\/strong> : UVB, short-wave UVA, long-wave UVA, as well as the high-energy visible (HEV) blue light<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The word \u00aborganic\u00bb does not mean \u00abnatural\u00bb in this context. It simply refers to a carbon-based molecule, as opposed to mineral filters such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do we call it an \u00abinvisible shield\u00bb?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Three factors account for the enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. A very broad range of protection.<\/strong> Conventional filters provide good protection against UVB rays, which cause sunburn, but long-wave UVA rays (up to 400 nm) are more difficult to block. Yet these are the rays that penetrate deepest into the skin and contribute to skin aging and DNA damage. Triasorb is one of the few organic filters that provides protection up to 400 nm, with a reported critical wavelength of 388 nm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Unique optical properties.<\/strong> Triasorb absorbs, but also scatters and reflects some of the radiation. This hybrid behavior\u2014somewhere between a chemical filter and a mineral filter\u2014allows it to be effective without thickening the formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. It stays on the surface.<\/strong> According to the manufacturer, the molecule does not penetrate the skin, whether healthy or damaged. This is an important consideration for those with sensitive or reactive skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
