Retinal, why it's different from retinol<\/strong>Both are retinoids (vitamin A derivatives).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All retinoids must be converted into retinoic acid (the active form used by skin cells).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The conversion path :Retinol<\/strong>\u00a0\u2192 Retinal \u2192 Retinoic acid (2 steps)<strong>Retinal<\/strong>\u00a0\u2192 Retinoic acid (1 step)<strong>Result:<\/strong>\u00a0Here is the complete list of ingredients I analyzed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What I found in the formula<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705\u00a0<strong>The good points1. The combination of retinal + niacinamide= OK\u00a0<\/strong><br>Niacinamide compensates for the potential irritation of retinal, reinforces the skin barrier and adds anti-spot action. Exactly what you'd expect from an intelligent formula.<strong>2. Effective antioxidants<\/strong><br>Vitamin E (double form) + Terminalia Chebula = protection against oxidative ageing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\u26a0\ufe0f\u00a0<strong>The limits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Texture too rich for normal to oily\/very oily skin<\/strong><br>Squalane + shea + plant oils = a feast for dry skin, a nightmare for shiny T-zone.<strong>Basic hydration:<\/strong>Glycerine (position 3) + hyaluronic acid (position 19) = correct but not exceptional.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>My advice is to use a moisturizing serum beforehand.<\/em><\/strong>**Important:** Retinal tends to dry out the skin (a classic side effect of retinoids). Outside this zone, there's a risk of disappointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My advice:<\/strong>\u00a0If your skin matches, give it a try.
