STEARYL ALCOHOL is a fatty alcohol. The right kind of emollient alcohol that doesn't dry out or irritate. It is often mixed with another fatty alcohol, cetyl alcohol, and the mixture is called cetearyl alcohol in the ingredients list.
A practical multi-tasker, white to light yellow in color, this wax loves oils and works very well in oil-in-water emulsions. It makes your skin pleasantly smooth, stabilizes oil-water mixtures and gives them consistency.
Stearyl alcohol is a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient, used for its texturizing and emollient properties.

Unlike irritating, drying types of alcohol such as SD alcohol or denatured alcohol, stearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that acts as an emollient, helping to maintain the integrity of other ingredients in a formulation.
