My opinion on Ducray

Our application recommends Ducray adapted to your skin thanks to our artificial intelligence

When talking about dermatological care, it's hard not to mention Ducray. With over 90 years of expertise, the French brand has made a name for itself in treating stubborn problems such as hair loss, acne, dandruff, eczema, and pigmentation. But how good are these products really? Which treatments are worth your attention, and which ones are likely to disappoint? I tested several of the brand's flagship products for you, and here is my verdict.

Quick introduction to Ducray

Founded in 1930, Ducray is not a new brand seeking to create a buzz. Its positioning is clear: products developed with dermatologists to target specific conditions. Their range includes shampoosand creamsand lotions and sera designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding skin and scalps. The promise? Gentle, effective formulas to relieve chronic problems such as acne and hair loss.

But in an industry saturated with lofty promises, the key question remains Is Ducray really living up to its image?

Ingredient and formulation analysis

At the heart of our products Ducray, we find classic dermatological active ingredients, but they are not always innovative. Here is an overview of the ingredients that are often highlighted:

  • Glycerine : Moisturizing agent, widely used in the cosmetics industry.
  • Hyaluronic acid : Recognized moisturizer, but its effectiveness depends on the molecular weight used.
  • Zinc gluconate : Excellent anti-inflammatory, commonly used for acne-prone skin.
  • Salicylic acid : A must-have for exfoliation and fighting blemishes.

While it is reassuring to see effective ingredients, one cannot help but notice a lack of innovation. Ducray plays it safe with tried-and-tested formulas, but doesn't really add any value. Compared to marques products such as La Roche-Posay which focuses on the microbiome or CeraVe with its ceramides, Ducray seems to be lagging behind.

My tests: effectiveness and disappointments

I tested three of the brand's iconic products. Here is my analysis:

  1. Keracnyl serum
    • Promise : Eliminate blemishes and acne
    • My opinion : Its combination of azelaic acid and glycolic acid makes it highly effective.
    • Note : 9/10
  2. Keracnyl PP+ Anti-Blemish Cream
    • Promise Reduce pimples without drying out the skin.
    • My opinion Despite the presence of zinc and niacinamide, effectiveness remains moderate. Results take time to appear, which is frustrating when looking for a quick solution to acne.
    • Note : 7/10
  3. Melascreen UV Cream SPF50+
    • Promise : Treat pigment spots and protect against UV rays.
    • My opinion : The sun protection is strong, but its thick texture leaves a white effect visible, especially on darker skin tones. That's a shame for a product that's supposed to be inclusive.
    • Note : 7/10

Weak points: formulation and packaging

Despite his dermatological expertise, Ducray accumulates surprising errors:

  • Presence of sulfates and parabens Controversial ingredients in products for sensitive scalps.
  • Fragrance : Fragrant formulations that can aggravate reactive skin.
  • Packaging Although functional, the product design is clinical and not very user-friendly.

Final verdict: Ducray, a brand that plays it safe

Ducray offers reliable products, but they lack innovation. If you have minor concerns such as a moderate acne or skin blemishes, their products may be right for you.
