Chamomilla Recutita" or "Matricaria Recutita" is the scientific name for German chamomile, also known as feverfew or wild chamomile. This medicinal plant of the Asteraceae family and Matricaria genus is widely used to create mother tinctures, infusions, essential oils and various topical products. Native to temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, this plant generally grows wild, but can also be cultivated in gardens or pots.
German chamomile is an annual plant reaching heights of 50 to 150 cm, with upright, branched stems, thin, alternate leaves and flowers with yellow centers surrounded by white petals. It produces a yellowish-white fruit. The flowers of this plant, rich in alcohols, sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, coumarins, mucilages and fructans, are widely used in skin and hair care.
