Mauritia Flexuosa fruit oil, known as Buriti oil, is a natural product extracted from the Buriti palm, native to the Peruvian Amazon. This oil is recognized for its numerous skin care benefits.

Rich in antioxidants and moisturizing benefits
Buriti oil is particularly rich in antioxidants, such as carotenoids, vitamin E and vitamin C. These components help protect the skin against environmental aggressors and delay the appearance of signs of aging, such as pigmentation spots and fine lines.

Emollient and soothing properties
This oil provides the skin with beneficial fatty acids and phytosterols, known for their moisturizing and soothing effects. Unlike essential oils, it does not contain volatile fragrance compounds that can irritate the skin, but has a natural earthy/hazelnut aroma.

Use and storage
Buriti oil is found in a variety of personal care products, including sunscreens, lotions and bath oils. It is advisable to store it in airtight, opaque packaging to preserve its antioxidants. To increase its stability, it is often preserved with vitamin E (tocopherol).

V. Safety and level of use
Although there has been no formal evaluation by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel to date, no concerns have been raised about the safety of Buriti oil. Its typical use is 1 %, but it can be used up to 100 % if desired.

The Buriti, a majestic palm that can reach 30 meters in height, is native to Brazil and grows particularly in the Cerrado and Amazon rainforests.
Buriti oil is distinguished by its color, which varies from red to dark orange, and its rich composition of fatty acids, such as palmitic acid, linoleic acid (omega-6) and oleic acid (omega-9). It also contains large quantities of carotenoids (provitamin A), vitamin E and vitamin C.

It is important to note, however, that Buriti oil is not suitable for young children or people allergic to any of its constituents.
