Carob Extract: Discover the Ingredient that Intensifies Your Tan and Deeply Protects Your Skin

Imagine a natural ingredient that can prolong your tan while preserving your skin's youthfulness and strengthening your hair. Carob extract, derived from the seeds of the St. John's Wort, has unexpected benefits: it stimulates tanning, is a powerful moisturizer, and is an effective antioxidant.
1. Origin and botanical composition
The extract comes from the seeds of the carob tree, a Mediterranean tree (Fabaceae family) native to the Middle East, now cultivated in warm climates (Spain, Italy, etc.).
It consists mainly of polysaccharides, proteins, peptides, amino acids, minerals, and vitamins, all of which are beneficial for the skin and hair.
2. Hydration and skin strengthening
- Moisturizing action: captures and retains water in the surface layers of the skin, improving hydration.
- Barrier and elasticity: Proteins, peptides, and polysaccharides help repair the skin barrier and improve firmness and elasticity.
3. Antioxidant and anti-aging properties
- Natural antioxidant: Polyphenols and carob gum protect against free radicals and UV damage.
- Stimulates collagen I: Fibroblasts promote dermal regeneration and limit collagen degradation, slowing down the appearance of wrinkles.
4. Integration of inositol, the active derivative
- Inositol (or D-chiro-inositol), which is extracted using a biotechnological process, stimulates melanogenesis.
- It promotes tyrosinase activity and therefore increased melanin production.
- Result: a deeper, longer-lasting tan without excessive exposure to UV rays.
5. Hair applications
- In shampoos, conditioners, and masks, carob extract improves hydration, reduces frizz, and strengthens hair fibers thanks to peptides and amino acids.
6. Safety and tolerance
- Very well tolerated: incorporated into serums, creams, lotions, gels, and self-tanning products.
- No skin irritation or sensitization with a usual concentration ≥ 0.1% inositol to intensify tanning.
- Non-photosensitizing, can be used in the morning, but please note that it does not protect against UV rays and is not a substitute for sunscreen.
- No risk identified for pregnant women, nursing mothers, or children.
