Visit Baume Relipidant XeraCalm A.D by Avène is designed primarily for very dry, atopic or eczema-prone skin. Its formulation aims to soothe itching, restore the cutaneous barrier and reduce the frequency of irritation flare-ups. My expert opinion is that this product is part of a rigorous dermo-cosmetic approach, adapted to fragile skin, particularly in children and adults, thanks to its minimalist, fragrance-free formulation.
Formula Analysis: Key Assets
Three key active ingredients stand out in this balm:
- Glycerine : A powerful humectant, it attracts and retains water in the epidermis, promoting lasting hydration and limiting dehydration.
- Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera Biennis Oil) Rich in essential fatty acids, it intensely nourishes the skin, restores the lipid barrier, and soothes feelings of discomfort.
- Excerpt from Aquaphilus Dolomiae Patented by Avène, it modulates the skin's immune response and reduces inflammation, which is crucial for atopic skin.
The synergy of these active ingredients makes the product remarkably effective on severe dryness and itching, while minimizing the risk of irritation.
Tips and Application Ritual
I recommend applying XeraCalm A.D Balm once or twice a day to clean, dry skin, ideally after a shower. It can be used morning and night. It is compatible with most moisturizing and soothing active ingredients, but it is best to avoid immediate association with products containing exfoliating acids or retinol, to avoid further sensitizing the skin.
My Final Verdict & Safety Opinion
The strength of this balm lies in its optimal tolerance, fragrance-free formula and non-sticky, enveloping texture. It offers rapid, long-lasting relief for atopic skin. The only possible drawback is that the rich texture can feel occlusive on oily skin. In conclusion, this is a reference skincare product for very dry, reactive skin, validated by my medical expertise.

The best for skin with eczema
Very nourishing, doesn't sting even when the skin is damaged by eczema. I haven't found a better moisturizer, suitable for the whole family (but not the face for normal skin!).
