SkinCeuticals is an American cosmeceuticals brand founded in 1994 by Dr Sheldon Pinnell, emeritus professor of dermatology at the Duke University Medical Center (North Carolina). The brand was born directly out of a scientific discovery: Dr. Pinnell demonstrated how to formulate topical vitamin C so that it penetrated the skin effectively - which led to the development of Duke patent on topical antioxidants. SkinCeuticals is acquired by the L'Oréal group in 2005 and joins the marques dermo-professional portfolio with La Roche-Posay, CeraVe and Vichy. Its headquarters remain in Dallas, Texas.
The founding philosophy: « Prevent, Protect, Correct« . SkinCeuticals is one of the first marquess to collaborate with dermatologists, plastic surgeons and aesthetic physicians to distribute its products in practice - giving it a medical legitimacy that is unique in the premium market. CE Ferulic (launched in 2005) is published in 6 peer-reviewed scientific journals. In 2008, Phloretin CF established a new class of antioxidants. Today, the brand boasts over 7,500 doctors and professionals distributing its products worldwide.
The difference between an effective vitamin C serum and a useless one lies in its formulation. Dr. Pinnell has established the three mandatory parameters - patented by Duke University - for a vitamin C serum to truly penetrate the skin:
| Duke parameter | Required value | Why it's critical |
| Vitamin C form | Pure L-ascorbic acid only | Derivatives (ascorbyl glucoside, SAP) are more stable but less active - must be converted by the skin |
| Concentration | 10 to 20% L-ascorbic acid | Below 10%: too weak to penetrate. Above 20%: irritation without additional benefit |
| Acid pH | Between 2.0 and 3.5 | At neutral pH, vitamin C does not penetrate the epidermis - which explains the initial tingling sensation. |
This patent is the reason why SkinCeuticals claims to be the only brand to formulate antioxidants in these parameters. In fact, several marquess (including Geek and Gorgeous, cited in BeautyDecoded reviews) offer vitamin C serums conforming to these parameters at much lower prices - which explains the systematic price signal in the reviews. The patent protects the specific Ferulic CE formula, not the Duke patent parameters themselves.
«SkinCeuticals: Its products are formulated on data published in peer-reviewed journals - not marketing. CE Ferulic (anti-aging 90.1, spots 90.1 - among the highest scores in the entire BeautyDecoded database) deserves its formulatory reputation. What the data also reveals: the price signal is the most consistent in the entire BeautyDecoded database on a single product - 4 out of 9 reviews mention price as a major problem. One user explicitly cites Geek and Gorgeous as a 10x cheaper alternative. On the other hand, Triple Lipid Restore illustrates a remarkable paradox: a ‘barrier’ cream containing essential oils that irritate sensitive skin. And Serum Hydrating B5 - the only SkinCeuticals product with a sensitive skin score of 0 - remains perhaps the best quality/tolerance ratio in the catalog.»

SkinCeuticals founding triplex antioxidant serum. Near-universal score: 84-91. Sensitive skin score: -3.0 - unsuitable, due to the formula's very acidic pH (2.5-3.0). Anti-aging score: 90.1 - one of the highest in the BeautyDecoded database, all marquess combined. Spots score: 90.1 - exceptional. Rated 4.11/5 out of 9 BeautyDecoded reviews.
The CE Ferulic formula meets the parameters of the Duke patent on topical antioxidants: L-ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C, not a derivative) at 15%, pH between 2.0 and 3.5 guaranteeing skin penetration, vitamin E (tocopherol, 1%) which doubles the efficacy of vitamin C, ferulic acid (0.5%) which doubles photo-protection according to SkinCeuticals data. This triple synergy has been published in six peer-reviewed scientific journals. The golden-amber color is normal and reflects the progressive oxidation of pure vitamin C - to be distinguished from an out-of-date product.
The 13 BeautyDecoded reviews reveal a consensus on efficacy, but a systematic and strong price signal: «very expensive», «expensive», «vitamin C costs little to produce», «Geek and Gorgeous is the same and 10x cheaper». One review cites Geek and Gorgeous directly as an alternative. Two reviews point to the absence of an airless bottle as a shortcoming for this price. Despite this, one user «always comes back» to this product after trying others. The price signal is the most consistent of the entire BeautyDecoded base for a single product.

My analysis
«CE Ferulic is the most documented SkinCeuticals product in BeautyDecoded (9 reviews). Anti-aging and blemish scores of 90.1 - among the highest in the entire database. Duke patent, published in 6 scientific journals, independently validated efficacy. Unavoidable price signal: many users quote alternatives 10x cheaper. Sensitive skin -3.0: acidic pH - not suitable for hyper-reactive profiles. No airless bottle for this price: design signal. »
Verdict: World reference - Rated 4.11/5 out of 9 reviews. Anti-ageing 90.1, spots 90.1. Duke patent. Published in 6 reviews. Price signal: too expensive for most. Sensitive skin -3,0. No airless bottle.

4.1/5 «Expensive - good product, pioneers in this field. Knowing that vitamin C costs very little to produce, this serum is very expensive. Geek and Gorgeous is the same and 10x cheaper. For such an expensive product, we'd expect an airless bottle.»
4.1/5 «Too expensive - certainly a good serum, but for the price they could have made an airless bottle.»
4.1/5 «I love it but expensive - I love how effective it is, how moisturizing it is and how quickly it absorbs. It doesn't cause me any irritation. I've tried other products but always come back to it.»
4.1/5 «Very good - I've been applying it every morning for a month and I'm already feeling the effects with a real glow to my skin.»

SkinCeuticals entry-level retinol serum. Dry skin score: 91 - excellent. Oily skin score: 14 - very unsuitable. Normal to oily skin score: 49 - not very suitable. Sensitive skin score: -2.95 - slight but moderate caution for retinol 0.3%. Anti-aging score: 93.5 - the best in SkinCeuticals' BeautyDecoded catalog. Spots score: 88.4. Score 4/5 on 1 review.
Retinol is the most documented anti-aging active in cosmetology (Kafi R. et al., Arch Dermatol, 2007). SkinCeuticals offers an initiating concentration (0.3%) in an encapsulated formula for gradual release. Anti-aging score 93.5: consistent with concentrated pure retinol - one of the highest scores in the BeautyDecoded database. Oily skin score 14: counter-intuitive for an anti-acne active ingredient, but explained by complementary active ingredients in the formula which increase richness.
BeautyDecoded's only review (4/5) is clinically significant: «good product to get started with retinol, but I wouldn't recommend it for acne-prone and combination/oily skin like mine, as it accentuated my acne.» This signal - accentuation of acne when starting a retinol - is the clinically well-documented skin purging phenomenon. It's an expected transient reaction, not a permanent adverse effect. 1 insufficient opinion.

SPF 50+ morning mandatory.»
Verdict: TOP anti-aging catalog (93.5). Spots 88.4. Rating 4/5 (1 review). Dry skin 91. Skin purge documented at start-up. Oily skin 14. SPF mandatory in the morning.

Phloretin antioxidant serum - alternative to CE Ferulic for normal to combination skin. Oily skin score: 84 and normal to oily skin score: 91. Dry skin score: 0 and normal to dry skin score: 49 - not suitable for dry profiles. Sensitive skin score: -5.0 - not suitable for sensitive skin. Anti-aging score: 90.1 - identical to CE Ferulic. Blemish score: 90.1. Score 5/5 on 2 reviews.
Phloretin is a polyphenol extracted from apples that prevents the degradation of collagen and elastin by inhibiting certain metalloproteinases (MMPs). At 10% of vitamin C (vs. 15% in CE Ferulic), the pH is slightly less acidic - making it ideal for skin that cannot tolerate CE Ferulic. Sensitive skin score -5.0: paradoxical for a «sensitive skin alternative» - meaning that phloretin CF remains formulatively demanding.
The 2 BeautyDecoded reviews are very revealing: one user reports the complete disappearance of sun spots after just one bottle (3 months) - a remarkable sign of effectiveness. The second stated that she had chosen this product because she could not use CE Ferulic (15% vitamin C) with her sensitive acne-prone skin - confirmation of the «alternative sensitive to CE Ferulic» positioning. Despite the sensitive skin score of -5, both users tolerate it well. 2 insufficient reviews.
My analysis
«Phloretin CF is the SkinCeuticals alternative to CE Ferulic for normal to oily skin - anti-aging 90.1, spots 90.1, oily skin 91. Rating 5/5 based on 2 very positive reviews: sun spots erased in 3 months, tolerated by sensitive acne-prone skin. Dry skin 0: unsuitable. Sensitive skin -5.0: less tolerant than its score suggests for some. Price almost identical to CE Ferulic.»
Verdict: Alternative CE Ferulic oily skin - Anti-ageing 90.1, spots 90.1. Rating 5/5 out of 2 reviews. Spots erased in 3 months confirmed. Oily skin 91. Dry skin 0. Sensitive skin -5. Price 160-180 €.

5.0/5 «Expensive but extremely effective serum - after the first bottle I have no more sun spots. It's very expensive but terribly effective. The bottle lasted 3 months.»
5.0/5 «Exceptional - the results were quickly visible. Certainly an investment, but the results are worth it. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and couldn't go for CE Ferulic (15% vitamin C).»

CE Ferulic version reformulated for oily and acne-prone skin - contains silymarin (milk thistle). Oily skin score: 84 and normal to oily skin score: 91. Dry skin score: 0 - unsuitable. Sensitive skin score: -7.5 - unsuitable with caution, the most negative score in the SkinCeuticals catalog. Anti-ageing score: 88.4 and imperfections: 59.5 - high. Blemish score: 76.5. Score 4/5 out of 2 reviews.
Silymarin is a complex of flavonolignans extracted from milk thistle (Silybum marianum) - a documented antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and sebostabilizing active ingredient (Park et al., Anti-Inflammatory Agents in Dermatology). SkinCeuticals combines it with pure vitamin C (15%) and ferulic acid in an oil-based formula for oily skin. Imperfections score 59.5: consistent with action on sebum. Sensitive skin score -7.5: formula concentrated in potentially irritating active ingredients for hyper-reactive profiles.
The 2 BeautyDecoded reviews are divided: one considers the product «too irritating for sensitive and acne-prone skin», the other says «very good pure vitamin C product, a little expensive but suits me - see if there's a cheaper equivalent.» This second signal is the same as for CE Ferulic: the search for a cheaper equivalent. 2 insufficient opinions.
My analysis
«Silymarin CF is the CE Ferulic version for oily and acne-prone skin - anti-aging 88.4, blemishes 59.5, spots 76.5. Oily skin 91. Sensitive skin -7.5: not suitable for hyper-reactive profiles - confirmed by an irritation warning. Recurring price signal: search for cheaper alternative. Dry skin 0. 2 insufficient reviews».»
Verdict: CE Ferulic oily skin - Anti-aging 88.4, imperfections 59.5. Oily skin 91. Rating 4/5 (2 reviews). Irritant on sensitive skin. Silymarin + 15% vitamin C. Dry skin 0. High price.

Dual-action anti-imperfection and anti-aging chemical exfoliating serum. Score for oily skin: 84 and normal to oily skin: 91. Dry skin score: 0 and normal to dry skin: 31.5 - unsuitable for dry profiles. Sensitive skin score: -7.0 - unsuitable. Anti-aging score: 85 and imperfections: 76.5 - excellent. Blemish score: 76.5. Score 5/5 out of 2 reviews.
The combination of BHA (salicylic acid 2% - intrapilar exfoliation) + AHA (glycolic and citric acids - superficial epidermal exfoliation) + HEPES (alpha-hydroxy acid with progressive exfoliating action) is one of the most documented chemical exfoliation formulas for mature acne-prone skin. Sensitive skin score -7.0: the cumulative concentration of acids confirms this contraindication for hyper-reactive profiles.
The 2 BeautyDecoded reviews are very precise on usage: «this serum reduces imperfections and improves skin texture - it also has an anti-aging effect» and «top product but I wouldn't recommend for sensitive skin or if you use retinol/retinoin at night - I use it in summer when I stop using tretinoin.» This second opinion is from a dermocosmetic expert - it documents a seasonal rotation strategy between tretinoin (winter) and Blemish + Age (summer). Unique expert clinical signal.
My analysis
«Blemish + Age Defense is SkinCeuticals» benchmark chemical exfoliation serum - rating 5/5 out of 2 reviews, anti-aging 85, blemishes 76.5, spots 76.5. Oily skin 91. Documented expert use: seasonal rotation with tretinoin - summer only when tretinoin is discontinued. Sensitive skin -7.0. Dry skin 0. 2 insufficient reviews."
Verdict: Expert exfoliator - Rated 5/5 (2 reviews). Anti-ageing 85, imp. 76.5, spots 76.5. Oily skin 91. Summer use / tretinoin break documented. Sensitive skin -7.0. Dry skin 0.

5.0/5 «Good serum - top product but I wouldn't recommend for sensitive skin or if you use retinol/tetinoin at night. I use it in summer when I stop using tretinoin: it exfoliates the skin and prevents flare-ups.»

Glycolic acid peel mask 10%. Score for oily skin: 84 and normal to oily skin: 91. Dry skin score: 44.8 - unsuitable. Sensitive skin score: -7.25 - unsuitable. Anti-aging score: 79.9 - very high for a peel. Blemishes score: 76.5 and spots: 76.5. Score 3.67/5 out of 3 reviews.
Glycolic acid at 10% is the smallest AHA in molecular weight - its skin penetration is maximum among AHAs. At 10%, it is a light peel concentration (vs. 30-70% in the office). The sensitive skin score -7.25 - is among the most negative in the catalog - consistent with a significant acid concentration and low pH.
The 3 BeautyDecoded reviews document the two extremes of the user experience. One harsh review: «big reaction on my sensitive skin - 3 days of red patches on my face and neck.» Two positive reviews: «beautiful skin the next day» and expert use alternating with tretinoin. The first case is an allergic or irritant reaction on a hyper-reactive profile - perfectly consistent with the -7.25 score.
My analysis
«Glycolic 10 is a powerful AHA peel - anti-aging 79.9, blemishes 76.5, spots 76.5. But its 3 reviews document a severe reaction (3-day patches) on sensitive skin, perfectly consistent with the -7.25 score. Score 3.67/5. Sensitive skin: contraindicated without prior testing. Lipid barrier restoring cream. Dry skin score: 73.5 and normal to dry skin score: 84. Oily skin score: 21 - unsuitable. Sensitive skin score: -7.2 - unsuitable despite «barrier and tolerance» positioning. Anti-ageing score: 23.8. Score 3.17/5 out of 3 reviews - the most disappointing product in the SkinCeuticals catalog in BeautyDecoded.
The combination of ceramides/cholesterol/free fatty acids 2:4:2 reproduces the ideal proportions of intercellular lipids in the stratum corneum. This formula is theoretically the most consistent for restoring a damaged skin barrier. However, the sensitive skin score -7.2 reveals the probable presence of essential oils in the formula - confirmed in several reviews.
The 3 BeautyDecoded reviews converge on the same signal: «contains essential oils that are not suitable for sensitive skin.» This is the most documented formulatory paradox in the SkinCeuticals catalog: a «barrier» cream containing molecules that are potentially irritating for sensitive profiles. One review mentions cyst-like pimples after two weeks. The mention of essential oils is repeated independently in the reviews.
My analysis
«Triple Lipid Restore is the formulatory paradox of the SkinCeuticals catalog in BeautyDecoded - rated 3.17/5 out of 3 converging reviews: essential oils present in a «barrier» cream, causing irritation and pimples in sensitive profiles. Sensitive skin -7.2. Lipidic formula 2:4:2 theoretically sound but contraindicated for skin hyper-reactive to EO.»
Verdict: Barrier/irritation paradox - Rated 3.17/5 out of 3 reviews. Sensitive skin -7.2. Essential oils present confirmed in reviews. Pimples cysts documented. Oily skin 21. Solid ceramide formula but problematic essential oils.

3.2/5 «Fragrant - I would have loved this skin barrier restoring cream, unfortunately it contains essential oils, which is not suitable for sensitive skin.»
3.2/5 «Not for my skin - very pleasant at first but after only two weeks I had lots of pimples including cyst pimples.»

Moisturizing serum with HA and vitamin B5. Oily skin score: 84 and normal to oily skin score: 91. Dry skin score: 74.2 - correct. Sensitive skin score: 0 - well adapted, the best sensitive skin score in the SkinCeuticals catalog. Anti-aging score: 13.6 - moderate. Score 5/5 on 2 reviews.
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is a documented humectant and emollient that improves corneocyte cohesion and promotes re-epithelialization. Combined with HA, this minimalist formula is the most tolerant in the SkinCeuticals catalog. Sensitive skin score 0: unique in the SkinCeuticals catalog - confirms the absence of irritating molecules.
The 2 BeautyDecoded reviews are unanimously positive on hydration and tolerance: «effective for moisturizing in the morning and evening for several months» and «very simple composition, hydrates, plumpy effect, does not tingle, penetrates very well, can be applied without problem between an antioxidant serum and a sun cream.» This second review precisely documents layering use - expert user feedback.
My analysis
«Serum Hydrating B5 is the best-tolerated product in the SkinCeuticals catalog (sensitive skin 0) - rated 5/5 out of 2 reviews confirming hydration, plumpy effect and perfect tolerance. Minimalist formula. Oily skin 91. Expertly documented layering use between antioxidant and SPF. Anti-ageing 13.6: pure moisturizer, not corrective. 2 insufficient reviews.»
Verdict: Best catalog tolerance - Rated 5/5 (2 reviews). Sensitive skin 0. Oily skin 91. Plumpy effect confirmed. Minimalist formula. Expert layering. Anti-aging 13.6: moisturizing. 2 insufficient reviews.

Verdict Sensitivity (Dr David rule) : Not suitable for sensitive skin (score: -4.85)
Expert deciphering
New-generation hyaluronic acid-boosting serum. Oily skin score: 84 and normal to oily skin score: 91. Dry skin score: 0 - unsuitable. Sensitive skin score: -4.85 - unsuitable. Anti-aging score: 83.3 - very high for an AH serum. Score 5/5 on 1 review.
H.A. Intensifier Multi-Glycan integrates 5 synergistic active ingredients: AH at 1.3%, Proxylane at 12% (hydroxypropyl tetrahydropyrantriol succinate - a patented SkinCeuticals active ingredient that stimulates glycosaminoglycans), a post-biotic ferment, licorice extract and violet rice extract. This formula is designed to amplify the skin's natural HA production beyond simple exogenous supply. Anti-ageing score 83.3: high, consistent with Proxylane.
The single BeautyDecoded review (5/5) is precise: «very good serum, moisturizes really well and applies well under sunscreen - but it's not suitable for oily or acne-prone skin.» This signal is paradoxical vs. the oily skin score 84 - it suggests that the richness in Proxylane may overload very oily skin despite the serum texture. 1 insufficient opinion.
My analysis
«H.A. Intensifier is SkinCeuticals new-generation AH serum - anti-aging 83.3, Proxylane 12%, rated 5/5 out of 1 review. But the review contradicts the oily skin score 84: «not suitable for oily skin.» Dry skin 0: unsuitable. Sensitive skin -4.85. 1 insufficient review. Advanced multi-glycane formulation justifies premium price».»
Verdict: Sérum AH avancé - Anti-âge 83.3. Rating 5/5 (1 review). Proxylane 12%. Oily skin 91 score but not recommended by user on oily skin. Dry skin 0. Sensitive skin -4.85.

Verdict Sensitivity (Dr David rule) : Slight caution recommended (score: -1)
Expert deciphering
Anti-glycation eye contour from the A.G.E. range. Dry skin score: 84 and normal to dry skin score: 91. Oily skin score: 59.5. Sensitive skin score: -1.0 - slight caution. Anti-ageing score: 35.7. Score 5/5 on 1 review.
The A.G.E. (Advanced Glycation End-products) range targets the phenomenon of cutaneous glycation - the non-enzymatic bonding between sugars and skin structural proteins (collagen, elastin) which weakens and yellows the dermal matrix. Bilberry extract and Proxylane act on these mechanisms. The addition of optical diffusers corrects the appearance immediately.
The only BeautyDecoded review (5/5) is enthusiastic and clinically precise: «ultra-nourishing cream, moisturizes and firms my drooping eyelids, smoothes my fine lines - a great discovery that's worth the price.» The «firms drooping eyelids» signal is clinically significant: unlike Institut Esthederm Eye Contour Care (where this effect was not perceived), here the user confirms an effect. 1 insufficient review.
My analysis
«A.G.E. Eye Complex is SkinCeuticals anti-glycation eye contour - rated 5/5 out of 1 review confirming firming of droopy eyelids, hydration and smoothing of fine lines. Dry skin 84. Sensitive skin -1.0. «Worth the price» according to the review. 1 review insufficient but very qualitative.»
Verdict: Periorbital anti-glycation - Rated 5/5 (1 review). Dry skin 84 «Firms drooping eyelids» confirmed. «Worth the price. Sensitive skin -1.0. Anti-aging 35.7. 1 insufficient review.

The most consistent signal from the BeautyDecoded base on SkinCeuticals is the price considered too high, mentioned in 4 out of 9 reviews for CE Ferulic alone. This signal is made all the more precise by the fact that one user directly names Geek and Gorgeous as a formulatively comparable alternative at 10x cheaper. This is the most documented competitive comparison signal in the entire BeautyDecoded database.
| SkinCeuticals product | Approximate price. | Alternative cited | Signal BeautyDecoded |
| CE Ferulic (15% Vit. C) | 175-195 € | Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow 15% (~€15-18) | Quoted by name in comic book reviews - «same and 10x cheaper».» |
| Silymarin CF (15% Vit. C) | 145-165 € | Not quoted | See if cheaper equivalent in BD review |
| Blemish + Age Defense | 85-100 € | Not quoted | Rating 5/5 - uncontested price for this product |
| H.A. Intensifier | 90-110 € | Not quoted | Note 5/5 - Patented Proxylane justifies the price according to the review |
| Soothing Cleanser | 55-70 € | Not quoted | «A little expensive for a simple cleaner» according to the review |
This price signal is legitimate: CE Ferulic is formulatively strong but its price of €175-195 is not linked solely to the formula - it includes the cost of the medical circuit, professional marketing and selective distribution. Alternatives that comply with the Duke patent (pure L-ascorbic acid, pH 2-3.5, concentration 10-20%) are available at much lower prices. The Duke patent does not protect these general parameters - it protects the specific Ferulic CE formula.
| Brand | Vit C serum price | BD data | Positioning vs SkinCeuticals |
| SkinCeuticals (L'Oréal) | 175-195 € | 21 products, 42 reviews | Duke patent - medical research - professional distribution |
| Geek and Gorgeous (Hungary) | 15-18 € | 15 products, 176 reviews | C-Glow 15% Vit C pure - Duke patent compliant - 10x cheaper |
| Paula's Choice (USA) | 38-55 € | 24 products, 155 reviews | C15 Super Booster - online distribution - scientific |
| Vichy (L'Oréal, same group) | 28-45 € | Numerous | Liftactiv Vit C - ACV derivative - better tolerated but less active |
| The Ordinary (DECIEM) | 8-12 € | Numerous | Pure L-ascorbic acid + AHA 30% - lowest price - least sensory |
| Filorga (France) | 35-55 € | Some products | NCEF + derived vitamin C - aesthetic medicine - paris global care |
The real question posed by BeautyDecoded reviews is formulatively correct: a vitamin C serum conforming to the Duke patent at €15-18 can be as effective as a CE Ferulic at €175. SkinCeuticals' premium price is linked to its medical legitimacy, scientific publications, professional distribution and brand history. - not just the formula. For users willing to pay for the medical guarantee and premium sensoriality: SkinCeuticals justifies its positioning. For users looking for pure active ingredients with the best Q/P: alternatives exist.
Is SkinCeuticals a good brand?
SkinCeuticals is the cosmeceutical brand with the strongest scientific credentials on the market - founded by a Duke University dermatology professor, founding patent published in 6 peer-reviewed scientific journals, distributed by 7,500 dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide. BeautyDecoded lists 21 products with 42 reviews. Formulation scores are among the highest in the entire database: CE Ferulic (anti-aging 90.1, blemishes 90.1), Retinol 0.3 (anti-aging 93.5). Its documented limiting signal: a high price contested by a majority of users, and very negative sensitive-skin scores on most concentrated active ingredients.
Is the CE Ferulic really worth its price?
The formula is scientifically validated, and BeautyDecoded scores (anti-aging 90.1, blemishes 90.1) are among the highest in the database. Its effectiveness has been published in 6 peer-reviewed journals. However, 4 out of 9 reviews in BeautyDecoded mention price as a major issue, with one user citing Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow by name as a formulistically comparable alternative at around €15-18. Vitamin C serums conforming to Duke patent parameters (pure L-ascorbic acid 15%, pH 2-3.5) exist at much lower prices. CE Ferulic also pays for its medical legitimacy, professional distribution and 30 years of research - beyond the formula alone.
Is SkinCeuticals suitable for sensitive skin?
In general, no - that's the main signal from the BeautyDecoded database. Almost all SkinCeuticals active ingredients have negative sensitive skin scores, ranging from -3.0 (CE Ferulic, acid pH) to -11.0 (Glycolic Renewal Cleanser). A unique exception: Serum Hydrating B5 (sensitive skin score 0) is the only SkinCeuticals product well tolerated by all profiles. Documented paradox: Triple Lipid Restore («barrier» cream) and Phyto Corrective («soothing» gel) contain essential oils or fragrances that irritate hyper-reactive profiles - contrary to their positioning.
What's the difference between CE Ferulic and Phloretin CF?
The two SkinCeuticals antioxidant serums have the same BeautyDecoded anti-aging and blemish scores (90.1). The formulatory difference: CE Ferulic contains 15% pure vitamin C + vitamin E + ferulic acid - it is recommended for dry to normal skin (dry skin 84, oily skin 84). Phloretin CF contains 10% vitamin C + phloretin 2% + ferulic acid - recommended for normal to oily skin (oily skin 84, dry skin 0). BeautyDecoded users who can't tolerate CE Ferulic (pH too acidic) turn to Phloretin CF.
Where to buy SkinCeuticals in France
SkinCeuticals is distributed through selective channels: dermatologists' and plastic surgeons' offices, selective pharmacies, medical beauty institutes, high-end spas and the official skinceuticals.fr website. The brand is not sold in supermarkets. Prices are standardized across all channels. Counterfeit products circulate on marketplaces - SkinCeuticals recommends buying exclusively from its official website or via its authorized distributors. In France, the list of authorized sales outlets is available on the official website.
