WHAT'S A LED MASK FOR?
Light therapy, and more specifically LED (Light Emitting Diode) photobiomodulation, has been used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine for decades. LEDs emit light of different colors, each with specific beneficial effects on the skin. Depending on the wavelength, the light penetrates more or less deeply into the skin's layers.
Numerous studies have shown that light stimulates the mitochondria, the organelles in our cells that produce the energy required for their proper functioning. Light therapy has become widely available thanks to the emergence of devices that can be used at home, without the need to visit a beauty salon or beauty institute.
A LED mask uses this technology to preserve the youthfulness of facial skin and stimulate cell renewal. Its main aim is to combat the visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness and sagging skin. LED light also improves skin texture by tightening pores, increasing elasticity and evening out skin tone.
The light penetrates the epidermis and dermis, where it stimulates fibroblasts, prompting these cells to produce more collagen and elastin, essential for maintaining skin firmness and elasticity. This process also helps reduce inflammation and promote skin repair. So, using an LED mask offers a natural, well-tolerated solution for skin maintenance. It is an alternative to Botox or hyaluronic acid injections.
The recommended age to start using an LED mask is around 35-40, as prevention is the key to fighting skin aging.

Nooance: Beauty Tech innovation for the best LED mask
Among the LED masks I've had the opportunity to test, this one from Nooance clearly stands out. This mask offers several advantages over its competitors:
- More LEDs : better coverage for facial areas, especially around the mouth
- Comfort : a comfortable nose opening and a wider, less slippery fastening system
- Removable battery : can be replaced if damaged
- Waterproof pouch : for easy transport and protection of the mask
- Two types of eye protection: adapted to the needs of each user.
Our hectic lifestyles, pollution and stress can take their toll on our skin. Fortunately, technology is now coming to our rescue with LED face masks. Long reserved for beauty salons and aesthetic medicine clinics, light therapy is gradually being adapted for home use. Here's a comparison of the best LED masks on the market, and some advice on how to choose the right one.
In 2023, Nooance also launched its Professional LED Mask offering 50% of extra power. It achieves similar results with a single 30-minute session per week, compared with 3 to 5 weekly sessions with their Essential Mask.

In conclusion, NOOANCE's "Le Professionnel" LED mask is a quality device, combining comfort, efficiency and ease of use. Its many options and ergonomic design make it an excellent choice for at-home LED treatment.
The Currentbody LED mask: an affordable alternative
If you're on a budget, Currentbody's LED mask may be an interesting option. For 349€, it offers fewer LEDs and a less practical fastening system, but is still effective in its action on the skin. However, it does not include eye protection.
Features

For whom Suitable for all skin types
Use Morning and/or evening
Duration of use 10 minutes per session
Recommended frequency of use 3 to 5 times a week, 10 minutes per session
What I liked:
- Long battery life : The mask's battery is long-lasting, allowing many sessions without the need for frequent recharging.
- Lightweight, compact battery Its slim design and light weight make it easy to handle and transport.
- Ease of use The mask is easy to use, thanks to its simple, intuitive interface.
- Affordable price : This mask is more affordable than other models on the market, while remaining effective.
What I disliked:
- Insufficient fastening The mask attachment lacks power, which can result in an imperfect fit on the face.
- Discomfort of eye protection The eye protectors supplied are not very pleasant, which led me not to use them.
- Wide space around the mouth The lip contour is not sufficiently targeted, leaving a large area around the mouth untreated.
- Unsuitable for certain body shapes : The space dedicated to the nose doesn't fit all face shapes, sometimes creating discomfort.
- Incomplete coverage The mask lacks LEDs on the forehead, chin and sides of the face, limiting coverage and effectiveness over the whole face.
Using the CurrentBody mask :
The mask is connected to a battery via a fixed cable on the right. Once fully charged, the battery offers long autonomy, facilitating use without the need for frequent recharging. The length of the cable allows a certain freedom of movement, and the small size of the battery makes it convenient to carry. However, it does not have an automatic countdown function, so it is necessary to manually calculate the 10-minute duration of use per session.
