What is "4-TERPINEOL" and what does it do?

Terpinene-4-ol is a monoterpene alcohol found in plants such as coriander, lemon, tea tree and cumin. Although it is a colorless liquid, it has a distinct floral and spicy odor. It is widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy, being a major component of Tea Tree and Nutmeg essential oils. It has bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal properties.
