What is "AMYLOPECTIN" and what does it do?
Role: TEXTURE
Family: Natural or hemisynthesized polymer
Comedogenic index: 0
It is a polysaccharide used in the composition of starch, which helps improve the texture of cosmetics.
A component naturally present in starch, amylopectin represents around 70 to 80 % of common starch. It is considered safe for topical use in cosmetics, with no concentration restrictions.
Derived from common foods such as bananas and potatoes
Description of Amylopectin
Amylopectin is a water-insoluble polysaccharide starch whose high molecular weight does not penetrate the skin. Its main purpose when used in cosmetics is to control product viscosity (thickness) thanks to its binding properties. This contributes to product texture and flow.
It forms a moisturizing hydrocolloid matrix into which active ingredients can be incorporated for gradual release into the skin.
