What is "BEHENYL ALCOHOL" and what does it do?

Role: EMOLLIENT/EMULSIFIER/TEXTURE

Family: FATTY ALCOHOL

Comedogenic index: 0

Behenyl Alcohol" is a fatty alcohol (non-drying type) with a long hydrocarbon chain of 22 carbon atoms. It is used to increase the viscosity of the formula and to help maintain a homogeneous mixture between the oily and aqueous parts (emulsion stabilization).

It is found in vegetables, in the mixture of long-chain fatty acids. It is colorless and has a waxy texture.

Behenyl Alcohol" has several uses in skincare:

Emulsifier: used to blend oily ingredients with aqueous ones. It is also used as an emulsion stabilizer, promoting emulsion formation while ensuring stability and improving shelf life.
Thickening agent: used in skincare products to increase foaming capacity or improve foam stability.
Emollient agent: softens and smoothes skin, helping to keep it soft and smooth.

Viscosity control agent: Used to increase or decrease the viscosity of skincare products, thereby controlling their texture and consistency.

Behenyl Alcohol" therefore plays an essential role in the formulation of skincare products, helping to create stable emulsions, improve product texture and consistency, and provide emollient properties for the skin.
