Safflower vegetable oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of safflower, a wild oriental plant found in South and Central America, Australia and Asia. This oil is extremely rich in omega-6 and is perfect for all skin types, especially dry, very dry and reddened skin. It is also highly recommended for skin suffering from couperose. The antioxidant active ingredients present in this oil are essential partners in filling in wrinkles. Carthamus tinctorius seed oil is derived from safflower, one of mankind's oldest crops.
Safflower seed oil contains a high percentage of linoleic and oleic acids. It also contains vitamin E. All three are effective moisturizers.
Vitamin E helps nourish your skin's lipid barrier. It's also a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help fight free radicals, or unstable molecules that can damage your skin cells.
Throughout history, safflower has been used for fabric dyeing and in food as a substitute for saffron.
