Origin and history
The Atlas cedar is an imposing tree found in the mountains of North Africa, growing up to 50 meters tall and living up to 2,000 years. Historically, it was used in the construction of important structures such as King Solomon's temple in Jerusalem. The ancient Egyptians also used it in their embalming practices.

Extraction process

Atlas cedar essential oil is extracted by hydrodistillation, a process that uses steam to extract volatile compounds from the tree's bark. This process produces both hydrolate and essential oil, with a yield of less than 5%. The resulting oil is a viscous, dark yellow liquid with a woody fragrance. It contains a high concentration of ketones and sesquiterpenes.
