It is a light emollient (C8-10 fatty acids linked to C12-18 fatty alcohols) that is rapidly absorbed by the skin, leaving it feeling dry but silky. Coco-Caprylate/Caprate is a clear, slightly yellowish oil, stable to oxidation, with a slight oily odor. It is characterized by its ease of use and excellent skin compatibility, enabling it to penetrate the epidermis well.
Its fluid, penetrating consistency makes it easy to apply.
Coco-Caprylate/Caprate is used in the composition of numerous preparations such as eye creams, face creams, body lotions, sun protection products, massage products, foundations, tinted concealers, body cleansers, hair care products and make-up removers.
This ester oil has emollient properties. It helps restore moisture to the skin, providing lightness, softness and suppleness. Its texture enables good dispersion and easy penetration into the skin's lipidic layers. What's more, it leaves a non-greasy, non-shiny finish, with no drying effect. This oil is particularly appreciated as a natural alternative to occlusive mineral oils.
In terms of skin feel, it is similar to Dicaprylyl Carbonate, another commonly used light emollient.
