DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE is the salt form of one of the main anti-inflammatory ingredients in licorice, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate. It is a yellowish powder with a pleasantly sweet odor.
Water-soluble, DPG has a complex chemical structure, with groups that like water (hydrophilic) and others that prefer fats (lipophilic). When mixed with water, it swells to form a gel-like structure, enabling active ingredients to be dispersed evenly throughout a formula.
It is mainly used for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, and is also said to regulate sebum production.
