What is FERULIC ACID and what does it do?

Role: ASSETS

Family: ANTIOXIDANT

Comedogenic index: 0

This antioxidant comes naturally from a variety of plants, herbs, cereals and vegetables. Sugar beet pulp, popcorn, wholemeal rye bread, oatmeal and sweet corn are among the richest sources of ferulic acid. Historically, the acid was first discovered in the Ferula foetida plant and named after it.

Properties and benefits

Powerful antioxidant: Ferulic acid neutralizes free radicals, protecting skin from the damaging effects of UV rays and pollution.
Skin rejuvenation: Improves signs of aging such as fine lines and brown spots.
Protection and repair: The molecule prevents collagen degradation and promotes collagen synthesis, contributing to skin regeneration.
Concentration and Application
For optimum efficacy in topical application, a concentration greater than 0.5 % is generally recommended.

Efficient combinations
Ferulic acid amplifies the benefits when combined with other antioxidants such as SOD, vitamins A, C and E. This synergy boosts skin protection, improves firmness and brightens the complexion. It can also be combined with niacinamide (vitamin B3) to refine skin texture.

Molecule stability
Although ferulic acid is stable, it is sensitive to extreme conditions of pH, heat and oxidation.
