Malachite is a mineral particularly rich in copper. Historically prized for its beauty, this verdant stone now offers its benefits to the cosmetics industry.

In the field of cosmetics, malachite extract is recognized for its antioxidant properties, protecting the skin from external aggression. However, there is one particularity to note: the copper contained in malachite can interact unfavorably with vitamin C. It is therefore advisable to avoid combining them in skincare products.

Extraction and use
Malachite is first reduced to a fine powder. It then undergoes a process to increase its solubility, before being neutralized. This extract should not be confused with malachite green, a very distinct colorant. On the other hand, at concentrations above 1%, malachite extract can impart a soft blue hue to cosmetic products. Recommended concentrations for skin care generally range from 1% to 5%.
