Its cleansing base is based on gentle surfactants - sodium cocoamphoacetate, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and coco-glucoside - which remove impurities and sebum without altering the skin's hydrolipidic film. Propanediol acts as a humectant, limiting the drying effect inherent in any cleanser. Bioderma's patented osmoprotective complex combines mannitol, xylitol and rhamnose: these sugars and polyols reinforce epidermal cells' resistance to osmotic stress and support the barrier function. Fructooligosaccharides help balance the skin microbiome by promoting beneficial commensal bacteria. On the antioxidant front, the formula incorporates tocopherol (vitamin E), ascorbyl palmitate (a fat-soluble derivative of vitamin C) and lecithin, which protect membrane lipids from oxidation. PEG-90 glyceryl isostearate and glyceryl oleate complete the emollient action. This product is suitable for sensitive, intolerant or redness-prone skin, including stable atopic skin, as well as for people whose skin barrier has been weakened by dermatological treatments.
