Discover the best exfoliation frequency for radiant skin!

The frequency ofexfoliation depends on your skin type and sensitivity but also, and above all, the type of product you use.

Exfoliation by skin type

It may be necessary to carry out tests to determine the frequency of theexfoliation that gives you all the benefits without the drawbacks.

Reduce frequency if signs of dryness, redness, irritation or pimples appear. Interrupt exfoliation if you experience sunburn, rash or an open cut.

Normal skin and anti-aging issues

People with normal skin should start by exfoliating one to three times a week. The frequency also depends on the product, its PH and acid concentration.

Dry, sensitive skin

For dry or sensitive skin, exfoliating twice a week is the maximum frequency. You might consider exfoliating only once a week or even every two weeks if you use products likely to cause dryness and irritation, such as retinoids.

Rosacea-prone skin

If you have rosacea, I advise you to avoid exfoliation with AHAs (glycolic acid/lactic acid) to avoid further redness, irritation or stinging. Exfoliation with BHA at 1% is possible.

Combination skin

People with combination skin can generally exfoliate their face twice a week.

Oily skin

If you have oily skin, you can probably exfoliate three or four times a week withsalicylic acid which is limited to 2% in cosmetics. Note that this recommendation applies to salicylic acid and not to glycolic acid and lactic acid, which may be more irritating than salicylic acid.

The benefits of facial exfoliation

Exfoliation helps eliminate dead cellsThis helps skin appear softer, smoother and more radiant, while improving the overall appearance of tone and texture. By removing these dead cells, exfoliation also helps prevent clogged pores.

azelaic acid exfoliation
