Description

SQUALANE (Squalane, Hydrogenated Oil), AQUA, COCO-CAPRYLATE/CAPRATE, GLYCERIN, SUCROSE STEARATE, ETHYL MACADAMIATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, SUCROSE LAURATE (Nonionic surfactant), POLYACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER-6, ISOCETETH-20, SODIUM POLYACRYLATE, TOCOPHEROL (Vitamin E), Hydroxymethyoxyphenyl decanone, TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE, MALIC ACID (AHA exfoliating acid), ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CHLORPHENESIN The Ordinary's Squalane Cleanser is a cleanser based on squalane, a light vegetable oil (usually derived from sugar cane) with a lipid structure similar to human sebum. This compound acts as a gentle solvent to dissolve lipophilic impurities, make-up and excess sebum, without altering the skin's hydrolipidic film. Coco-caprylate/caprate and caprylic/capric triglyceride reinforce this solvent power while adding a creamy texture. Sucrose stearate and sucrose laurate are emulsifiers of natural origin that enable rinsing with water, forming an oil-in-water emulsion. Glycerine ensures surface hydration, limiting transepidermal water loss. Tocopherol (vitamin E) plays an antioxidant role, while hydroxymethoxyphenyl decanone (Symsave H) completes this oxidative protection. Malic acid, a gentle AHA, contributes to a slight pH rebalancing. This cleanser is particularly suitable for dry, sensitive or dehydrated skins, as well as for combination skins seeking effective make-up removal without tightness. It can be used alone or as the first step in a double cleansing routine.

  1. Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -

    Efficient but not very practical
I tested this squalane cleanser from the Ordinary. Affordably priced, this cleanser is used on dry skin by rubbing your hands together to warm the product and let it melt into the oil, then massaging and rinsing. Not very practical in the morning or evening when I run off to the shower and forget to apply it before wetting my face 🙂 Still, it does the job and cleanses the skin well of any oily creams and removes all traces of make-up, leaving skin clean without residue but not moisturizing (useful for removing sunscreen, for example). I rarely use it as it's not very practical for me, preferring a small micellar soothing cleanser that I apply directly in the shower.

  2. Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -

    very good first cleaner
excellent first cleanser for removing make-up or sunscreen
you need to be patient to allow the product to heat up and melt on dry skin, then emulsify when rinsing with water.
It massages the face and removes impurities for one minute.
my skin tolerates it very well
I find that my skin is softer and more beautiful since I've been using it.

  3. Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -

    Correct
Good cleanser, but can't be used as first step in double cleansing, doesn't remove mascara or foundation.
    Otherwise, just do the job.

  4. Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -

    Not for combination skin
Even for morning cleansing, it's not enough for my skin type. What's more, on the sensory side, it didn't give me any pleasure whatsoever.
