The 3 types of dark circles: Blue, brown and hollow circles
Dark circles colored blue:
The skin of the eyelids is the thinnest in the body, only half a millimeter thick, and there is no subcutaneous fat; the orbicularis muscle is glued to the skin. It's not just the thinness, but also the very structure of eyelid skin that's different. Eyelid skin has a low sebaceous gland content, making it extremely prone to dehydration.
The thinness of this skin means that the vessels and orbicularis muscle can be seen through. It's important to remember that we're not all the same when it comes to blue circles, and they are more or less visible depending on the characteristics of each person's skin. Nonetheless, a healthy lifestyle can help reduce the appearance of blue circles.
Since the eye muscles are constantly working at up to 15,000 blinks a day, they need plenty of rest. If they don't recover sufficiently, the venous network dilates, amplifying the presence of blue circles.
Diet also has a role to play, not so much in improving the condition as in preventing it from worsening. Indeed, if the vessels become too permeable, hemosiderin deposits will accumulate and worsen the discoloration of the eye contour.
Skin care for blue circles
Retinol:
Retinol serums or creams thicken the dermis and slightly reduce the discoloration of dark circles induced by the subcutaneous orbicularis muscle.
Caffeine:
Caffeine serums are interesting for limiting vessel dilation, as caffeine can provide vasoconstriction to diminish the appearance of vessels and reduce edema. Green tea-based serums tend to improve circulation and have anti-oxidant properties.
Dark brown circles:
Visit pigmented rings are most often brownbut they can also take on a color tending towards the yellow or the brown.
They are mainly caused by an accumulation of melanin in the skin. They are mainly caused by two factors. On the one hand, as we've already mentioned skin smoothness which easily reveals the presence of excess melanin in the epidermis.
Causes of dark circles:
The sun:
On the other hand, the rim of the ocular orbit is a particularly exposed to UV and therefore all the more susceptible to hyperpigmentation. So, as you can see, it's very important to protect yourself from the sun, and if possible to use a tinted sunscreen with iron oxides to protect against visible light. My opinion on best sun creams. Sun protection is the best way to combat the appearance of wrinkles and spots on the face, especially around the eyes.
Other causes :
However, there are also genetic hyperpigmentations, particularly in India and Asia, and to determine whether this hyperpigmentation is genetic or acquired, one way of finding out is that the hyperpigmentation will also affect the upper eyelid. Another factor that can cause reactive hyperpigmentation is eyelid friction due to irritation. That's why we need to look for and avoid the causes of allergies, which can also contribute to an accumulation of lymph in the lower eyelids.
Skin care for dark "brown" circles
Cosmetic treatments often take a long time to produce results. There's no such thing as a miracle cream, but there are of course active ingredients that can be used to attenuate them quite effectively.
Vitamin C:
A vitamin C serum will act on spots and hyperpigmentation by regulating the action of melanocytes. The disadvantage is that pure vitamin C must be at an acidic PH to be effective, and this can cause irritation in some people. If you can't tolerate pure vitamin C, you can use a vitamin C derivative which is much less irritating.
Retinol:
A serum or cream containing vitamin A and its derivatives will stop the hyperproduction of melanin by regulating melanocyte activity.
Other interesting assets:
A niacinamide serum or cream is useful, as it reduces the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to the skin surface. Vitamin B3 is therefore effective in treating solar hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide's other advantage is that it increases the presence of ceramides, which is very useful for the eye contour area, which is low in sebaceous glands.
Interesting active ingredients include exfoliants such as glycolic acid, lactic acid and PHAs.
- Azelaic acid, which also acts on hyperpigmentation.
- Natural organic products such as bakuchiol
Make-up is always a good option, as the treatment of dark circles is long and often partial.
Anti cerne Typology
The treatment of dark circles with facial care can take a long time, so you may find it useful to use a dark circle remover in addition to dark circle serums and creams. To know my Opinions on Typology.
Hollow circles: will create a shadow
Circles can appear falsely colored because of a hollow that will absorb light and therefore create a shadow. In fact, hollows always tend to absorb light and create shadows, unlike the high points of the face, which are very luminous. It's quite possible that you've had this hollow since birth, as it's due to the structure of your eye socket and ligament. This type of hollow tends to worsen with age, either by accentuating the hollow or by the appearance of bags or wrinkles. My selection of best anti-wrinkle creams.
To treat this shadow effect, the most effective treatment is to inject hyaluronic acid to fill the hollow. Injections are highly effective, but can also give rise to minor complications, such as hyaluronic acid migrating into the skin and causing oedema. Fortunately, we have the means to treat these complications, as hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Alternatively, fat injections ("lipofilling") can be performed, but results can be unpredictable, with the risk of the fat not setting properly or of nodules appearing. This treatment must be carried out by a doctor, and costs vary.
On the other hand, you may get a false impression of hollowness, especially in men, if there are palpebral bags. In other words, a profusion of fat or edema in the lower eyelid.
In the case of a fat hernia, surgery by a specialist is the only way to achieve a result. Prices vary from doctor to doctor.
Healthy living is important: Eating organic, exercising and quitting smoking can only help to improve the quality of your skin.
Requests for treatment of dark circles are extremely frequent, whether from aestheticians, dermatologists or plastic surgeons. And it's normal: our gaze is often drawn to the eyes and the periorbital area, and a pronounced dark circle can have a negative impact on a person's age or state of fatigue.
Moisturizing creams: Recommended for all types of dark circles.
Ring anatomy:
Anatomically speaking, there are several factors that explain the appearance of dark circles and the cheekbone-eyelid junction. The first is that the skin of the lower eyelid is thinner than that of the malar. The second factor is that, at the eyelid level, there is no subcutaneous fat, whereas at the malar level, the fat suddenly becomes thicker.
Another phenomenon is the herniation of orbicular fat, which accentuates the dark circles. Other factors, such as bone structure, also play a role, but to a lesser extent than the reduction in skin quality. FACIAL CARE and skin.
There are many causes of dark circles: genetics, allergies, hyperpigmentation, ligament and bone structure, skin quality, sun and tobacco. It's very important to understand the causes of dark circles before starting any treatment.
Eye contour beauty routine:
Oil : Cleansing oil is an excellent alternative to micellar water, as it gently removes make-up. I prefer oil to micellar water, as micellar water can be irritating.
Gel A gel cleanser is a good option in the morning or evening, after using your make-up remover oil.
Lotion or essence A moisturizing lotion or essence provides hydration, smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, and adds radiance to the eyes. It's an essential part of every beauty routine.
Serum anti-dark circle: A serum can treat or moisturize, thanks to retinol, peptides, vitamin C derivatives and hyaluronic acid.
Cream Anti-ring: Day or night cream, you can find cosmetics adapted to oily skin, combination skin and dry skin.
Mask Effective when radiance is lacking, they should be used at night.
Products can be purchased from parapharmacists or delivered by Amazon.
Make-up: The concealer
Medical treatments :
Medical treatments are there as a guide for those who wish to go further, but the most important thing is to feel good in your body and in good health. Every medical procedure involves risks.
The injection of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) by mesotherapy is an aesthetic medicine technique for improving the quality of the skin and the appearance of wrinkles. reduce wrinkles by acting on the direct consequences of aging. To produce a PRP, blood is drawn and centrifuged to recover the platelet-rich plasma.
PRP is used as a source of growth factors which play a key role in the process of tissue regeneration.
In particular, injecting PRP into the skin stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers, giving the treated surface a more youthful appearance. In France, this treatment is prohibited for aesthetic purposes, but can be used for therapeutic purposes.
Another treatment is nanofat injection ("nano lipofilling"), which uses emulsified and filtered fat. To produce nanofat, a small amount of liposuction is performed, the fat is centrifuged and then purified and filtered to retain only the elements necessary for dermal regeneration.
Visit nanofat allows you to inject regenerating elements from your own fat into the skin. Injecting this fat emulsion will thicken the skin of the lower eyelids and conceal the dark discoloration of dark circles.
Another possible technique is peeling, which regenerates the skin and restores its radiance. The technique involves applying an active ingredient to the skin, which provokes an exfoliation and desquamation reaction of varying intensity, depending on the type of peel used. The skin reacts naturally to this stimulus by activating cell renewal, collagen synthesis, and the production of elastin and hyaluronic acid.
The laser can also improve the color of the eye contour. A vascular laser can reduce visible vessels. An ablative laser can remove excess melanin.
Diet also has a role to play, not so much in improving the condition as in preventing it from worsening. Indeed, if the vessels become too permeable, hemosiderin deposits will accumulate and worsen the discoloration of the eye contour.
