Neutrogena's Calme Curcuma cleansing foam is based on a cleansing base of gentle plant-derived surfactants - cocamidopropyl betaine and decyl glucoside - which ensure cleansing without destabilizing the hydrolipidic film. Glycerine, a classic humectant, reduces post-rinse tightness. Turcuma longa* rhizome extract provides polyphenolic compounds, notably curcumin, recognized for their antioxidant and soothing properties, potentially useful on skin prone to redness or mild irritation. Tocopheryl acetate (esterified vitamin E) completes this antioxidant action by protecting skin lipids from oxidation. However, the presence of sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, two more irritating anionic surfactants, as well as fragrance, may limit tolerance on highly reactive or atopic skin, despite the product's soothing positioning. This cleanser is mainly suitable for normal to combination skin showing slight discomfort or uneven tone due to oxidative stress, but should be used with caution on sensitive or intolerant skin.
