The Ordinary's Squalane Cleanser is a cleansing make-up remover based on squalane, a plant-derived emollient (usually derived from sugar cane) that mimics the skin's natural sebum and effectively dissolves lipophilic impurities, make-up and excess sebum without altering the skin barrier. Its balm-to-oil texture transforms into a milky emulsion on contact with water, thanks to the emulsifiers sucrose stearate and sucrose laurate, gentle, biodegradable sugar esters. Coco-caprylate/caprate and caprylic/capric triglycerides reinforce solvent power on fats, while glycerine ensures surface hydration during rinsing. Tocopherol (vitamin E) provides light antioxidant protection, and hydroxymethoxyphenyl decanone (Symsave® H) completes this action. Malic acid adjusts the pH to respect the natural acidity of the hydrolipidic film. This product is particularly suitable for dry, sensitive or reactive skin that does not tolerate detergent-foaming cleansers, as well as for normal to combination skin looking for gentle, non-stripping make-up removal. Suitable for use as the first step in a double cleansing routine.

moderately effective
Insufficient to remove make-up and sunscreen on its own. Not the most pleasant texture, leaving a greasy film after rinsing.

Mild cleaner but distinctive scent
Very gentle cleanser that cleanses and removes make-up perfectly. A little greasy for some, but with a distinctive scent.

good cleaner
I used it as the first cleanser in my routine, and it cleans well and is gentle. It does, however, leave a small oily residue that needs to be removed with a second cleanser.

It helps out but I won't use it every day as a make-up remover.

Correct for cleansing the skin in the morning, but does not remove make-up well.
I much prefer Clinique's balm, it's worth its weight in gold.
