The best serums of 2023 according to a plastic surgeon!
Here are three serums I really enjoyed using in 2023!
Theramid azelaic acid serum
The first is Théramid's azelaic acid serum! It's a milky serum with 15% azelaic acid, perfect for combating brown spots and blemishes that can occur in adulthood or adolescence. What's more, it contains colloidal oatmeal to soothe the skin, carnosine with anti-aging properties, ceramides and green tea extracts. In my opinion, this is one of the best azelaic acid serums around!

Nooance Youth Serum
The second is an anti-aging serum ideal for sensitive skin: Nooance's Copper Peptide Serum. Containing 2% of copper peptide, this serum stimulates collagen and elastin production. It also includes six other anti-aging peptides, glucans, panthenol, and prebiotics to balance the microbiome. Its light texture and humectant-rich composition make it ideal for daily use, or alternating with retinol every other night.
Retinal geek and gorgeous
And the third is at the opposite end of the price spectrum, the Retinal Serum from Geek and Gorgeous. Retinal is one of the best anti-aging ingredients, and this serum is really well formulated with panthenol, allantoin and a pleasant texture.
Skin serums, often called skincare serums, are concentrated skincare products designed to target specific skin problems. They are generally formulated with a high concentration of active ingredients and are used after cleansing but before moisturizing. Here are some key points to consider about skincare serums:
- High concentration of active ingredients Serums contain a higher concentration of active ingredients than creams or lotions. This makes them particularly effective for targeting specific problems such as wrinkles, dehydration, hyperpigmentation or acne.
- Types of ingredients Serums can contain a variety of active ingredients, such as antioxidants (like vitamin C), peptides, hyaluronic acids, niacinamides, exfoliating acids (like AHA and BHA), and plant extracts. The choice of ingredients depends on the serum's specific objectives.
- Light texture Serums are generally lighter in texture than moisturizers. They are designed to penetrate quickly and deeply into the skin, allowing the active ingredients to work effectively.
- Use Serums are applied after cleansing and before moisturizing. A small amount is generally sufficient, as they are highly concentrated. They can be used morning and/or night, depending on your skin's specific needs and the product's recommendations.
- Personalization Serums can be customized to suit different skin types and skin problems. For example, a hyaluronic acid-based moisturizing serum is ideal for dry skin, while a serum containing salicylic acid can be beneficial for acne-prone skin.
- Skin sensitivity As serums are highly concentrated, it's important to choose a product suited to your skin type. People with sensitive skin should be particularly cautious, and may consider doing a skin test before using a new serum.
- Price Serums can be more expensive than other skincare products, due to their high concentration of active ingredients. However, their effectiveness can justify the investment, especially for specific skin problems.
