The product Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA from The Ordinary is primarily intended for skin lacking moisture, whether dry, dehydrated, or sensitive. Its formula aims to restore and strengthen the skin barrier, making it an ideal treatment for people exposed to external aggressions (climate, pollution, drying treatments). My analysis highlights a biomimetic approach that respects skin physiology and is suitable for all skin types, including the most sensitive.
Formula Analysis: Key Assets
Three key active ingredients structure the effectiveness of this treatment:
- Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) : A complex of amino acids, urea, sugars, and sodium PCA, which replicates the natural components of the skin barrier. They retain water in the stratum corneum and prevent dehydration.
- Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) : A powerful humectant, it attracts and binds water in the epidermis, providing an immediate and lasting plumping effect.
- Essential Fatty Acids : Present in the form of linoleic, oleic, and stearic acids, they restore the hydrolipidic film, improving the skin's suppleness and protection.
The synergy of these active ingredients guarantees physiological hydration without any occlusive effect or greasy residue.
Tips and Application Ritual
I apply this treatment in the morning and/or evening, on clean skin, after water-based serums. It is compatible with most active ingredients (niacinamide, peptides, hyaluronic acid). However, I avoid layering it immediately with treatments that are very rich in oils or occlusive, to preserve the lightness of the texture and optimal absorption of NMFs.
My Final Verdict & Safety Opinion
This product stands out for its tolerance, fragrance-free formula, and light, non-greasy texture. It is ideal for sensitive and dehydrated skin. My only reservation is that it may not be sufficient for very dry skin in winter, requiring a more nourishing supplement. In conclusion, it is an excellent physiological moisturizer that is safe and effective.

Soft and pleasant
The texture is really top-notch, soft and silky. The only downside is that it's not rich enough. But frankly, it's no big deal, and you can't fault it for the price. Many luxury creams don't even come close!

Good, but not recommended for oily skin
I tried it when the brand only had this moisturizer. It worked very well after the vitamin C suspension, completely calming the tingling. However, the galenic formulation was too oily for oily skin.
I've since switched to G&G's Hydration Station, which was less oily and suitable for skin prone to seborrheic dermatitis, but it was considerably more expensive.
I finally tried and adopted The Ordinary fnh+beta glucan gel when they expanded their line of moisturizers to seal a routine.

Good moisturizer
moisturizes my skin well. However, I have to spread it well for it to penetrate my skin completely (probably a compromise that was made for its price).

I love using this cream, it's light, odorless, not too greasy, my very dry skin absorbs it quickly and with each use I feel a fine, soft barrier on my face. I use it every morning, I highly recommend it. .

hydration
super cream pleasant to apply.moisturizes my dry skin all day long
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Correct
This cream is designed for normal to dry skin, as its texture is still rich. It will clearly be too rich if you have combination to oily skin. I think it's perfect for winter, but for summer it's going to be too heavy. It does the job, but if you're looking for a plumping cream, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
The ordinary also has a version for oily skin, as this one is more for normal/dry skin.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
moisturizes well without a greasy finish, but it's not great either.
