After-sun care: the best products to soothe your skin

After thesun exposureThe skin is attacked. It then needs to be deeply moisturized and nourished to soothe and repair it if necessary. Nothing beats a good after-sun treatment. In this article, we'll help you identify the active ingredients you need for a good after-sun treatment, and give you a few tips.

What's the use of aftersun?

After-sun care is essential to soothe and nourish the skin after sun exposure. It provides maximum hydration and a feeling of freshness after exposure. While sun protection protects against UVA and UVB rays, which are responsible for premature skin ageing and skin cancer, after-sun care maintains a high level of hydration and repairs skin damaged by exposure, if necessary. That said, if you've followed our advice onsun exposureYour skin should not be too tanned (or even burnt!).

What makes a good after-sun care product?

Glycerine, mineral oils and kerosene are the most common ingredients in after-sun care products. They are excellent moisturizers. They are followed by nourishing active ingredients such as vegetable oils and shea butter, and soothing active ingredients such as calendula and chamomile extract. The star active ingredients I like to find in skincare products can also be used in after-sun care: panthenol, ceramides and hyaluronic acid. They leave skin supple and plumped. Beware of alcohol in the formulation! This can give an unpleasant sensation to overheated skin, but above all, alcohol-based skin care products, even if sold as moisturizers, tend to dry out the skin.

Is aloe vera a good after-sun treatment?

The answer is a resounding yes. Aloe vera is an excellent after-sun product. It can be found in many after-sun products alongside other active ingredients. It can also be found in gel form at over 90%. This is the case, for example, in one of my favorite summer skin care products. It's Holika Holika's 99% aloe gel. Available in a lovely aloe vera leaf-shaped packaging, in 100ML to take with you. anywhere, even by plane. A little tip? Put it in the fridge! Freshness guaranteed after a day in the sun. I also like to use it for insect bites in summer, as it's a great way to soothe the skin. Aloe vera gel can be used on the face or body.
