7 tips for adapting your summer face routine when traveling with a carry-on suitcase

Summer is all about idleness, sun, beach and happiness. It's a time for indulging in restaurants, ice cream and other pleasures of life. But it's not always easy to stick to a summer routine, sometimes because you're too lazy, but often because you don't have enough space! We're all familiar with the problem of going on vacation with just one carry-on suitcase and a few liquids under 100ML. How do you adapt your face care routine for summer when you can't take many products with you? Here are our practical tips for a facial care ritual adapted to the season, without having to pack your entire bathroom.

Tip 1: Go for moisturizing creams

A minimal, effective routine?

(Care) + moisturizer + SPF in the morning

Double cleansing + (care) + (exfoliant)+ moisturizing cream in the evening

Sweating, sun exposure, swimming, sun creams - many of you mistakenly overlook the importance of sun protection. moisturizing cream. This is a mistake, especially in summer. A moisturizing cream provides the skin with deep nourishment. L'regular hydration also helps regulate sebum. I advise you to choose a gel-cream texture for your morning routine, as it's much easier to tolerate than a richer cream you'd use in winter. What's best? Combine moisturizing and active ingredients, so you don't leave on vacation overloaded! Since summer is all about radiance and a luminous complexion, while being protected from blemishes, I recommend that you take a vitamin C gel-cream with you! All you need is a vitamin C moisturizing gel-cream and a sunscreen to apply in the morning.

My recommendation: moisturizing gel-cream with vitamin C:

Lalarecipe Yuzu Vita-C cream. A Korean nugget tested and approved for summer. It contains vitamin C to combat hyperpigmentation, niacinamide 5% (the perfect concentration to combat existing hyperpigmentation and blemishes), a 12-vitamin complex and well-known moisturizing and soothing active ingredients such as glycerin and panthenol. The gel texture is surprisingly light on first use, with a light lemony fragrance. Its big pluses? Its mini format (50ML) fits in your carry-on bag and its vegan formulation, approved by PETA

For the evening, fill up on skin nutrition with a richer cream and other active ingredients.

My recommendation for summer evening moisturizer  :

Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream. It provides rich, non-greasy hydration and nutrients for all skin types. It contains milk vetch root extract, well-known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Coupled with shea butter and beeswax, this antioxidant helps restore skin elasticity. Using it every evening in summer makes my skin feel more supple. Approved! Its plus? A 100ML format perfect for the airport.

And, of course, there's also a sun cream SPF50to slip into your carry-on suitcase, as well as two facial cleansers for the essential evening double-cleaning.

Tip 2: Sheet masks

When you're traveling by plane with just one carry-on suitcase, sheet-masks are a marvel! You can take several with you. They take up the space of a small envelope, are flat and can be slipped in anywhere. They're perfect for a nomadic facial on vacation! Choose from sheets-masks, soothing with panthenol, moisturizing with hyaluronic acid or after-sun with Aloe Vera. I never travel without a wide assortment. A little extra? Put them in the mini-bar in your hotel room, or in any fridge, and the cooling effect after a long day in the sun will do you a world of good.

Tip 3: Solid presentations

While solid shampoo has gradually become part of everyone's routine, and soap a must-have, there are some solid presentations you can take with you on the plane for your skincare routine! I'm thinking in particular of SPF50 sun sticks, perfect for reapplying your sun protection throughout the day. The sticks are also long-lasting, so you can use them even on long vacations.

My sun stick recommendations?

Abib-Quick Sunstick Protection Bar. Very easy to apply, thanks to its oily texture. Contains acacia peptide and ceramide to reinforce the skin barrier. It also contains soothing natural ingredients like aloe and cucumber to calm the skin. It goes everywhere, but I wouldn't recommend it for oily skin, as the texture is really oily.

My sun stick recommendation for oily skin?

TOCOBO - Cotton Soft Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++. It protects really well from the sun, but also has a very slight mattifying effect. Which makes it an asset for oily skin.

Tip 4: Exfoliate on the go

It's not easy to bring a whole lotion of chemical exfoliant with you on vacation, but proper exfoliation is the key to avoiding hyperpigmentation and having luminous skin in the autumn!

My recommendation?

The travel-size version of Paula's Choice's best-selling 2% BHA liquid exfoliant, in 30ML. Use in moderation to avoid skin sensitization, and preferably in the evening when skin is not exposed to the sun. Use 1 or 2 times a week if you're not used to it.

A gentler recommendation?

The sheet-mask trick again! I highly recommend the Real AHA-BHA-PHA calming care mask from Some by Mi. It doesn't take up any space and is suitable for sensitive skin for gentle exfoliation.

Tip 5: Collect samples all year round

Don't hesitate to use the cream samples you collect all year round when shopping! Now's the time to take them with you, because they're so small. Personally, I do this for hand creams or body moisturizers, as I don't like to change my face routine too often.

Tip 6: Don't decant

I know that many of you buy small empty containers of less than 100ML to fill them up and take all your favorite skincare products with you. It's not my favorite technique. While it works without a hitch for taking along your favorite shampoo or shower gel (I always use the ones from hotels or buy some at my destination to make room for my face routine), I don't recommend it for your skincare routine. Why not? Because some active ingredients do not stand up well to changes in packaging. Cosmetic packaging is often designed to protect the formulation. Have you ever noticed that Vitamin C-based creams can turn brown? This can happen prematurely when changing containers. The same applies to sun protection, which can change color. Clearly, you're taking your products with you, but not with all their original properties. They can deteriorate more easily, even more so with travel and climatic changes, and it would be a shame to have an allergic reaction.

Tip 7: Buy locally

To avoid having to load up when I need large products, I always buy at the airport once I've passed through checkpoints, or directly at my destination. This is the case for sun protection for the body, in particular, which I buy in very large sizes. If I'm not staying in a hotel, but rather in an AirBNB, I also stock up on shampoo and soap if necessary. These are normally all lower-priced products than creams or skincare products, and sometimes I have pleasant surprises when I buy foreign marquess that I didn't know existed!
