Nivea Cream by Nivea is an iconic skincare product, primarily designed to moisturize and protect dry to very dry skin. Its rich formula aims to restore the skin barrier and prevent dehydration. My expert opinion is that this product is primarily intended for skin that lacks comfort, is prone to tightness, or is exposed to external aggressions (cold, wind). It may also be suitable for very dry areas of the body (elbows, knees, hands), but I do not recommend it for daily facial care for combination to oily or acne-prone skin due to its occlusive texture.
Formula Analysis: Key Assets
Three main assets catch my attention:
- Glycerine : A powerful humectant, it attracts and retains water in the stratum corneum, promoting long-lasting hydration.
- Panthenol (Pro-vitamin B5) Known for its soothing and restorative properties, it supports skin regeneration and calms irritation.
- Mineral oils (Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Microcristallina, Paraffin) They form a protective film on the skin's surface, limiting insensible water loss and strengthening the skin barrier.
The combination of these active ingredients gives Nivea Cream its renowned effectiveness in restoring skin comfort, even on very dry or damaged skin.
Tips and Application Ritual
I recommend applying Nivea Cream in the morning and/or evening to clean, dry skin, paying particular attention to the driest areas. It can be applied in a thick layer as a repairing mask. It is compatible with moisturizing active ingredients (hyaluronic acid), but I do not recommend combining it with products that are very rich in vegetable oils or comedogenic active ingredients on the face, especially for acne-prone skin.
My Final Verdict & Safety Opinion
Nivea Cream is appealing due to its effectiveness on dry skin and its versatility. Its rich, occlusive texture is beneficial for skin lacking comfort, but may be too heavy for oily skin. Be aware of the presence of fragrance and regulated allergens, which may not be suitable for very sensitive or atopic skin. My opinion: a classic product to be used with caution, mainly on the body or very dry areas.

For the smell
Far too rich for me, but perfect for my legs and what a smell!

Very oily
The smell is a pleasant childhood memory, but it's too greasy today. There are much more effective creams today.

Small price
It's my mom's favourite cream.
As I have oily skin, I only use it on my body (dry legs). Its scent takes me back to childhood memories.

Mixed
I use it as a neck and bust moisturizer. I don't see much difference so far.

4 stars for the memory
this cream is a Proust's madeleine, it reminds me of when mom used to spread it on our faces on cold days.
I'd like to say that I've only used it on my hands, but what an olfactory and moisturizing pleasure!

I couldn't agree more. I have always found Nivea creams extremely greasy, thick and difficult to spread, even more than 20 years ago.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Very, very greasy product and does not seem to be suitable for all skin types, but given the price you shouldn't expect much.

for my hands
I love this cream and its scent. I use it for my hands and the price is more than affordable.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
too greasy
what I like about this cream is its scent and also its price, but too bad I don't like the sensation on my skin, especially my hands, I find it too greasy and it gives the impression of having dirty hands, so I wash my neck with soap as soon as I use it.

not bad
used for the neck and décolleté. It moisturizes well. At 61, I don't have a crumpled neck or décolleté. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use SPF 50 sun cream to protect yourself from the sun.
