The product The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% Emulsion is primarily intended for individuals concerned with skin aging, particularly wrinkles, loss of firmness, and uneven skin tone. The Ordinary brand is recognized for its minimalist and effective formulas, focused on the performance of active ingredients. My expert opinion is that this emulsion targets both signs of aging and imperfections, thanks to a high concentration of retinal, an advanced derivative of vitamin A.
Formula Analysis: Key Assets
Three major active ingredients stand out in this formula:
- Retinal (0.2%) : More powerful than traditional retinol, it accelerates cell renewal, stimulates collagen production, and improves skin texture. Its effectiveness on wrinkles and pigmentation spots is scientifically proven.
- Bisabolol Derived from chamomile, it soothes irritation and reduces inflammation, limiting the risk of side effects associated with retinal.
- Ascorbyl Palmitate This vitamin C derivative provides additional antioxidant protection, enhancing the complexion's radiance and defense against free radicals.
The synergy of these active ingredients gives this product remarkable effectiveness while maintaining skin tolerance.
Tips and Application Ritual
I recommend applying this emulsion in the evening to clean, dry skin. It is best to start with two to three applications per week, then gradually increase the frequency. Avoid combining this product with other irritating active ingredients such as AHAs/BHAs or pure vitamin C in the same routine. It is essential to use sunscreen in the morning.
My Final Verdict & Safety Opinion
The strengths of this product lie in the power of retinal, the presence of soothing active ingredients, and its light texture, which is suitable for most skin types. One slight drawback: a tingling sensation may occur during the first few uses, which is common with this type of active ingredient. In conclusion, I consider this emulsion to be an excellent choice for combating the signs of aging, provided that the usual precautions are followed.

Excellent
Very good value for money. Doesn't irritate my skin, which was already used to The Ordinary retinol serum every night.

retinal
Is it better to start with a Retinal less strong than that of the ordinary which is 0, 2 % because that frightens me a little. .
I started off with Retinal de Voûs skincare and then I'll gradually increase my use. I use it every night

I've just ordered it, I hope I'll be as happy with this product. .

excellent choice
I stopped taking tretinoin, much too irritating.
. I followed up with Geek & Gorgeous Retinal, 0.1%, impeccable.
Finally, the ordinary tea retinal serum, 0.2%, even better. My skin tolerates it very well, 3 times a week. excellent value for money, i validate ✅

very well
I've been using it for two weeks now, alternating with naciniamide and copper peptide every other night. I like it very much. it's a good product. i'm going to buy it again. it's a shame the bottle is so small.

I love
I really like its non-greasy formulation, it works well and isn't too aggressive.
I was wondering if you can use it every day instead of twice a week?

I can't do without it. I find this serum very well formulated and very pleasant despite the high concentration. I introduced it into my evening routine two months ago, using it two nights a week at most. I'm delighted with it.

I use it every day and my skin doesn't seem to complain and I don't have any itching symptoms, so I keep using it. .

I recently purchased The Ordinary's new 0.2% retinal, which I use twice a week. For now, I'm continuing to use my Paula's Choice at 1% retinol on the other nights, until it's finished. Once it's finished, I'm thinking of switching to The Ordinary full-time, as it's gentler and integrates easily into my routine. A very good alternative for those looking for an effective and affordable product.

I've just bought it and can't wait to discover its anti-aging effect on me.

Works, but be careful!
It does the job, but beware: it's not for beginners with reactive skin.
I have sensitive skin and this serum took some getting used to. It's highly dosed and not encapsulated, so it irritated me at first, whereas the encapsulated versions suit me better.
So good, but an encapsulated version would be even better.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
It is dosed at 0.2%, which is very low. I want to take it to start with and slowly get my retinol-sensitive skin used to it.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
0.2% of Retinal is by no means low.
You must be confusing it with Retinol.
Beware of labels!

very good value for money!

Retinal
I use it every night when it is recommended to use it only two or three times a week. My skin doesn't react afterwards, so I keep using it, which is why I recommended it. I'd love to hear from people who use it every night like me. .
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Likewise, I use it every day, no reaction, it's magic.

Magic
I use it every day, no reaction, it's gentle and absorbs quickly.
I've noticed changes in my skin since using it, it's incredible and it's very rare because I've used tetrinoid.
It's the best retinol on the market, I've tried almost everything and

Excellent Retinal
This Retinal is part of my routine, alternating with my retinol to boost the anti-aging effects of this product.

Hello, I don't dare take the plunge, I use the Green Keratin retinal absolute coupled with tnnx, how did you integrate it?
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
That's why I'm hesitant to buy it, as it's not encapsulated, and reactions can be very real!
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
I'll give it a try and buy it so that I can do as you recommend twice a week. Thanks for your feedback

At the top
Pleasant texture, not too irritating even several evenings in a row. I'm waiting to see the results after 1 month.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Good product
I use it 5 times a week because it dries out my skin, but I've been using retinol for 2 years now and I'd like to have better results. I feel like I'm stagnating... I'll see about switching to tretinoid...
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Adapted
Easy-to-use product, 1 or 2 pumps are enough for the face. Use gradually to get skin used to it.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
this product is magic
great. it was very easy for me to introduce this product. When I use it, I immediately feel my skin soft and pleasant. obviously I don't use it every day. let's say once or twice a week, alternating with a less concentrated retinoid. very well formulated and very affordable.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
it's not a retinol but a retinal and therefore more effective.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
of course neck / nape
I don't use it on the face yet, but on the neck, nape of the neck and sometimes on the upper body. very good, difficult to spread, but there you go.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
Excellent retinal
Excellent retinal in an airless bottle for my neck, which cannot tolerate tretinoin.
Unfortunately, the product is no longer available in Canada, so I'll have to go back to a 0.1% concentration in another brand.
I know that other companies make retinal at 0.2%, but at a higher cost.
Written review of the BeautyDecoded application -
does not keep his promises
after several months of use, I see absolutely no improvement in my skin...no smoother texture or tightened pores, and no effect on fine lines.
