This gentle, vegan-certified exfoliant has been developed for all skin types. Formulated without alcohol, oil, silicone or gluten, its light texture gently removes dead cells from the epidermis. Salicylic acid is lipophilic (affinity with the skin's fatty substances), so it penetrates deeply to purify and tighten pores while reducing blackheads. Daily use leaves the complexion fresh, luminous and more even. Salicylic acid is a lipophilic exfoliant that acts deep within the pores to improve the appearance of pores and reduce the appearance of blackheads. Salicylic acid is also an anti-inflammatory ingredient. This product is formulated with a PH of 3.2 to 4. The keratolytic action of salicylic acid makes you more vulnerable to the sun, so don't forget to protect yourself from the sun.

How to use Salicylic acid 2 % Solution The Ordinary?

Just after cleansing and drying your face as part of your evening routine, apply this salicylic acid 2 % solution as a lotion, either to targeted areas (with imperfections such as the T-zone) or to your entire face, avoiding the eye contour area. Follow up your beauty routine with a serum and moisturizing cream adapted to your specific skin concerns.

Warning: salicylic acid (BHA) can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight, leading to sunburn. For this reason, The Ordinary recommends wearing UV A and B sunscreens, avoiding exposure to the sun and wearing protective clothing.

Although this product has been designed for all skin types, if your face is flaky or has been weakened, do not use this product. When using for the first time, test a few drops of this solution on a small area of your face, once a day for 3 days. If there are no side effects, make this part of your beauty routine. If irritation, hives, swelling of the eyes or mouth, blisters or breathing difficulties occur during daily use, rinse off the product, discontinue use and consult a doctor immediately.

What not to mix with Salicylic acid 2 % Solution from The Ordinary?

Exfoliating acids such as salicylic acid are incompatible with copper peptides. Their excessively acidic pH denatures these molecules, reducing or even eliminating their effectiveness.

For the same reason, this BHA cannot be applied at the same time as a retinoid, notably retinol. Acidity compromises the anti-aging role of vitamin A derivatives. What's more, the combination of these two molecules would be too aggressive for the skin.
