Why the name Protini for a moisturizer? The name was inspired by the protein powders that Drunk Elephant creator Tiffany Masterson adds to her smoothies every morning. Tiffany wanted to create a moisturizing cream that would add a protein boost to the skin, in the same way that her protein smoothies stimulate her body.

What's the difference between Drunk Elephant LALA Cream and Protini Polypeptide Cream?
Lala crème" is an SOS skincare cream that is more occlusive than Protini, and I recommend it for dry skin. Protini is a lighter skincare cream with an anti-aging action. You can mix them together.

This complete skincare cream is ideal for normal to combination skin. It contains no silicones or mineral oils, and is made from Dicaprylyl carbonate which is a vegetable substitute for silicone. If you have really dry skin, it won't be rich enough for a night cream, and if you have oily skin, you may not be able to tolerate it. On the other hand, the packaging is really excellent: you'd think it was a classic cream jar, but in fact it's an airless device.

It's a good, gentle cream, with a rather oily texture, a bit like Vaseline I find, but then it penetrates fairly quickly and there's no need to worry. For my mature, dry skin, the cream has proved sufficiently moisturizing and nourishing above an emollient serum in the winter months, but I'm moving on because it's not cheap for the few results I've had. I'll probably buy it again a little later.
