Visit La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+M is primarily intended for very dry, atopic, or eczema-prone skin that suffers from itching and discomfort. This lipid-replenishing balm aims to restore the skin barrier, immediately soothe irritation, and prevent severe dryness from recurring. In my professional opinion, the formulation of this product is particularly suitable for infants, children, and adults with atopic or sensitive skin, thanks to its approach that respects the skin's microbiome and its effective anti-scratching action.
Formula Analysis: Key Assets
Three key ingredients stand out in this formula. First, the shea butter, known for its lipid-replenishing properties, intensely nourishes the skin and restores the lipid barrier. Next, the niacinamide (vitamin B3) acts as a powerful soothing and repairing agent, reducing inflammation and promoting skin repair. Finally, Vitreoscilla Ferment, an exclusive postbiotic, helps rebalance the skin microbiome, thereby limiting flare-ups of irritation and dryness. The combination of these active ingredients gives the product proven effectiveness in reducing itching and preventing recurrence.
Tips and Application Ritual
I recommend applying Lipikar Balm AP+M once or twice a day, preferably after showering, to clean, slightly damp skin. It can be used morning and evening. This balm is compatible with most moisturizing and soothing skincare products, but it is best to avoid immediate combination with powerful exfoliating active ingredients (acids, retinoids) on irritated areas. It fits perfectly into a minimalist routine, complementing a gentle, soap-free cleanser.
My Final Verdict & Safety Opinion
La Roche-Posay's Lipikar Baume AP+M stands out for its optimal tolerance, anti-scratching effectiveness, and ability to restore the skin barrier over the long term. Its rich but non-sticky texture makes it easy to apply daily. A slight drawback for some users may be the presence of silicones, but these contribute to skin protection. In conclusion, this is a benchmark product for atopic skin, offering both safety and effectiveness.

Comedogenic cream ?
I've always had atopic and eczematous skin, and it's hard for my skin to accept products. This cream has been highly recommended to me by various pharmacists.
Positives: fast absorption on the body (provided that the body is still wet otherwise it creates itching) and it gives a really better aesthetic aspect to the skin (plumped up and well hydrated skin).
Negative points: it didn't reduce my itching and actually made it worse. It gives an oily finish to my face and has created blackheads and acne pimples on both my face and body...
Hence my question: Is it perhaps comedogenic?

A brand belonging to the L'Oréal group that shamelessly tests on animals, I no longer use it.

For dry skin
A safe bet in terms of body moisturizing, but I prefer the lipikar lait whose lighter, more fluid texture is better suited to my skin type. This balm is fragrance-free (unlike the milk version) and contains niacinamide.
